FingerPaints Sparkle Top Coat

FingerPaints Sparkle Top Coat (over NYC Battery Park Purple)

I was intrigued by FingerPaints Sparkle Top Coat when I was at Sally’s the other day, and since it was less than $4 I decided I’d give it a try. In the bottle it’s a clear base with white/silver sparkles, but put it over any color and you get this raspberry foil effect (FYI it’s a workable dupe for CND Effects Raspberry Sparkle). I like it despite the one-note color, but my experience with it has not been the greatest. It is very, very chippy; I got noticeable chips within the first 24 hours, and by the 36 hour mark my manicure was thrashed and needed to be changed despite not being hard on my nails. I doubt it’s the base color, NYC Battery Park Purple, since I’ve never had that problem with it before. It’s a bit disappointing since I really like FingerPaints generally, and as I said I do like the effect this topper gives, but I think I’ll have to put a layer of clear Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear over it next time and see if that helps.
